Monday Made It - Flowers, Frosting, and a Freebie!

I'm enjoying the best part of summer and linking up once again with 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It!

I love this part of the summer when my flowers are thriving, and I'm remembering to keep them watered.  My window boxes and the crock by the door have filled in so nicely!

The ivy had grown so much, I had to give them a trim the other day.  They were trailing all across the porch!

The flower bed has really taken off.  Here's a picture from a post I did on May 25th...

Here we are just seven weeks later...

I also love the daisies I planted on the side of the house...

I suddenly got a craving for a German Chocolate Cake the other day, so I decided to try out the recipe from one of my favorite books, The Cake-Mix Doctor Bakes Gluten-Free.  The cake part wasn't a problem, but I had no idea how long it took to make the frosting.  I had to cook evaporated milk, sugar, butter, etc. on the stove for twelve minutes, stirring constantly until it thickened and turned golden brown.  Well, after twelve minutes, it wasn't golden brown, after 14 minutes, still not golden brown, finally I just said enough.  My arm was ready to fall off!  Of course, it quickly then turned golden brown and thickened too much.  So I had to do a little doctoring of my own to get it back to a consistency I could actually spread on the cake.  Even if it wasn't the prettiest cake, it was certainly delicious!  The cake mix doctor hasn't failed me yet!

I have provided you with a link below if you'd like to check out this great gluten-free resource!

After some hard work on social studies lessons and packets this week, I needed a fun break.  So, I put together a cute 2015-2016 School Year Calendar.

Here's a peek at some of my favorite months...

You can grab this calendar just in time for back to school at my TPT Store for FREE!  Enjoy!

Make sure you stop by 4th Grade Frolics for lots of summer Monday Made Its!
