I think one of the best ways to teach about history and character education is through picture books.  I have several of the books featured here and use them every year...Freedom Summer, Back of the Bus, Freedom on the Menu, The Story of Ruby Bridges.  I'm heading to the library this weekend to check out some of the other suggested titles!

This is a great overview of Martin Luther King Jr. that I plan to incorporate this year into my week of activities.

The pin takes you to a Time For Kids page with many different resources.  The one that I plan on using with my kids is a Then to Now black history timeline.
